Sandalphon Visits Palmetto Bay Marina

The Sandalphon Yacht Experience

The Sandalphon superyacht recently docked at Palmetto Bay Marina for a few days enjoying Hilton Head Island before continuing their journey up the Intracoastal Waterway loop. With our new dock infrastructure and 3 phase power supply, we are excited to have the capacity to host vessels of this size (and larger) at Palmetto Bay Marina.

Sandalphon is a motor yacht with a length of 31.0m. The yacht's builder is Balk from Netherlands who delivered superyacht Sandalphon in 2017. The superyacht has a beam of 7.46m, a draft of 2.13m and a volume of 204 GT.

The explorer yacht features naval architecture by Azure Yacht Design & Naval Architecture. Up to 8 guests are accommodated on board the superyacht Sandalphon. The yacht Sandalphon has a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. She is powered by 2 Caterpillar Inc engines, which give her a cruising speed of 9.5 kn and a top speed of 12.0 kn. The yacht has a speed of 9.5 kn. The yacht carries 40,570 liters of fuel on board, and 5,678 liters of water.

Sandalphon: A 27m explorer given a new lease of life

After a rough start in life, Sandalphon got a second chance to give her owner the retirement of his dreams, learns Sam Fortescue... We call this ‘the gigantic party room upstairs’,” says skipper Robert Wattam, sweeping his arm across the upper saloon. “When the boat was in Morocco, the owner brought a group of five traditional musicians back to the boat and two ladies to cook lamb couscous up here. There was a great atmosphere.” This feels like the heart of Sandalphon, the 31 metre explorer yacht that has drawn me to Limassol in Cyprus, and on whose top-most deck I’m now standing, watching the sun go down over the marina with the smell of orange blossom in the air. It’s the perfect scene – but an unlikely one, because at one point it looked like Sandalphon would never hit the water at all.
