Help Support Captain Nate’s Oasis - Offshore Reef Fundraiser
A fundraiser is underway to help build Captain Nate’s Oasis, a new expansion of the Whitewater Reef, located about 5 miles offshore.
Palmetto Bay Marina is honored to share news of a meaningful initiative close to the heart of Hilton Head Island’s boating community.
This project pays tribute to Captain Nate Riley, a longtime employee of Broad Creek Marina and a beloved charter boat captain who passed away in 2024. Known for his passion for the water and dedication to the local fishing and boating community, Captain Nate left a lasting impact that continues to inspire friends, colleagues, and fellow boaters.
The plan involves sinking two modified 20-foot cargo containers in a newly designated area adjacent to the existing offshore reef. This artificial reef will provide a thriving habitat for marine life and serve as a lasting legacy honoring Captain Nate. If this initial effort is successful, the hope is to add more containers in the future, expanding the site even further.
The fundraising goal is $10,000, and every contribution will bring this vision closer to reality. To learn more and support the project, please visit www.captainnatesoasis.com.
By coming together as a community, we can celebrate Captain Nate’s life, enhance Hilton Head’s offshore reef system, and create a place that generations of boaters, anglers, and nature enthusiasts will enjoy.
